INDEPENDENT MARINE WEATHER VISUALIZATION

Explore NOAA marine weather in one view.

Explore observations along a reference route

Choose locations or points on the map to draw an illustrative weather-reference route and find nearby reporting stations. The app computes reference geometry from a general coastline dataset; it does not approve a navigation track, establish navigability, or provide instructions to steer. Harbor approaches are displayed separately from the requested offshore cruise offset.

Read wind, waves, swell, and history together

View reported wind, combined wave height and period, separated swell and wind sea where available, report ages, and descriptive relationships to the reference line. Feet and meters are selectable. Trends describe observed history; comparisons between sites describe those measured locations and do not fill conditions between them.

View NOAA source charts

Explore Pacific and Atlantic surface analysis, wind and wave products, wave-period and direction charts, and surface outlooks at available 24-, 48-, 72-, and 96-hour leads. The products retain their printed units, issue times, and valid times. A retrieved image is not a guarantee of current conditions.

Optional location display underway

With browser permission, the location view highlights a nearby reference leg and relevant stations and displays projected reference distance, GPS speed or course where available, fix age, and accuracy. It does not continuously monitor weather or hazards, provide collision or grounding warnings, or replace navigation instruments or emergency communications. Mobile browsers may pause location updates.

Know the limits of each layer

Station readings describe their reporting locations. Historical trends are not future weather predictions. Tidal-current values are predictions at particular stations and depth bins, not a live current field. Missing reports remain missing and sample values are labeled.
